Nixon vs. McGovern Campaign Ads

A couple of commercials from the 1972 Nixon vs. McGovern campaign.  Please take a look at both.  Which do you think is more effective? Why?

I believe the McGovern ad works best. After all, the press had such hate for Nixon, that the newspaper articles and such were plentiful. McGovern used this wisely, showing piece after piece and picture after picture. Nixon looks highly dishonest. Not the kind of man you would want for president is it? It is also dramatic. So many bad words, and so much negativity, and then BOOM, we see a great solution. Nixon's add is strategic, but only focuses on the military policy. While this shows McGovern may not be strategic in military, the sheer number of articles against Nixon would give McGovern an advantage regardless.

  2. I think the McGovern Watergate ad was more effective. It made points on many situations unlike Nixon's. Nixon's focused mostly on the military, which isn't a bad point, but it also isn't the only one.

  3. The Mcgovern ad was more effective becayse it focused on numerous things unstead of just the military.

  4. Were they trying to shoot each other down? If so, I think the Nixon one is more effective, mostly because the McGovern Watergate ad became boring almost immediately.
